The top two finishers during Mexico's qualification stage are out of the Liguilla, with eighth-seeded Queretaro and seventh-seeded Morelia advancing to the Apertura's semifinals.

Queretaro held first-seeded Chivas Gualadajara to a scoreless draw Saturday night in Jalisco, allowing the 2-1 lead they crafted at home last week to carry them into Mexico's final four.

Earlier, Morelia got early goals from Miguel Sabah and Edgar Lugo at Cruz Azul to build, building on their own 2-1 lead. Alejandro Vela pulled the home team to within two goals with his 36th minute goal, but the second-seed was unable to narrow that gap, losing on aggregate 4-2.

Cruz Azul finished the match with ten men after midfielder Gerardo Torrado was issued a second yellow card in the 72nd minute.

Queretaro took a different route to the semifinals, electing to sit on their lead from the start. While their hosts would put eight shots on goalkeeper Liborio Sanchez, Queretaro would go the full 90 without testing Chivas `keeper Victor Hernandez.

Chivas' loss means Mexico's top seed has been eliminated in the first playoff round of the last four playoff tournaments.

Queretaro and Morelia await Sunday's results to find out who they will face in the semifinals. If third-seeded Tigres, up 1-0 on Pachuca, advances, they will face Queretaro. If Pachuca advances, they will face Morelia, with the winner of Santos-Jaguares taking on Queretaro.

Santos and Jaguares are tied at two after last week's first leg in Chiapas.
