Matias Fernandez scored from a free kick and controlled the midfield Tuesday as Chile beat Colombia 2-0 in a friendly international.
Jean Beausejour rounded off a quick passing move with a calm shot to make it 2-0 before the half-hour mark and Colombia's attacking play failed to break down a well-organized Chile defense.
The match at ADO The Hague's Kyocera Stadium followed a 0-0 draw between Peru and Ecuador at the same ground and was part of the teams' preparations for the Copa America, which starts July 1 in Argentina.
It was Claudio Borghi's second match as Chile coach. He started his tenure with a 1-1 draw with Portugal on Friday.
Chile reached the second round of last year's World Cup in South Africa, where it lost 3-0 to Brazil.
Borghi's team's pedigree showed when Fernandez curled a 20-meter free kick over the Colombian wall into the top right corner of David Ospina's goal to give Chile the lead in the seventh minute.
Dutch referee Pieter Vink awarded the free kick for a trip by Colombia captain Mario Yepes which ended a scything run by Alexis Sanchez.
Hector Mancilla came within inches of doubling Chile's lead in the 14th minute when he intercepted a poor clearance and narrowly fired over the bar from just inside Colombia's half.
Colombia's defense, already struggling to cope with the swift Chile attacks, was further weakened when Napoli defender Camilo Zuniga limped off after appearing to injure an ankle while trying to make a tackle in the 16th minute. He was replaced by Athletico Madrid defender Luis Perea.
Abel Aguilar came close to equalizing in the 26th minute when his low shot was deflected just wide and a minute later teammate Fredy Guarin beat three defenders and sent a curling left foot shot just wide of the far post.
But just as Colombia appeared to be coming back into the match Chile doubled its lead on the half hour. A clearance found its way to Gonazlo Jara, who passed to his left for Beausejour who timed his run perfectly and calmly fired over Ospina.
Hugo Rodallega looked certain to pull a goal back for Colombia just before halftime, but Chile goalkeeper Waldo Ponce stuck out an arm for a great reflex save to parry his shot.
Colombia continued pressing after the break and Aguilar missed another good chance to close the gap in the 56th minute when he scuffed a shot from close range after a sharp pass from substitute Juan Cuadrado. Aguilar again came close in the 67th minute when he hit a low left foot shot just wide with his last touch before being substituted.
Chile nearly made it 3-0 in the dying minutes when Sanchez's shot beat Ospina only to deflect off the outside of the post.
Colombia finally found the net in injury time, but the strike was disallowed for offside.
