An Argentine football agent said Monday that former Paraguay international goalkeeper Jose Luis Chilavert hit him after a dispute over money allegedly owed from player transfers.
Pablo Seijas said the argument with Chilavert, who played for Paraguay in the 2002 World Cup, started when they met in Ezeiza airport in Buenos Aires and continued until they arrived in Paraguay.
''Chilavert demanded money from me for his supposed part in the transfers of Argentine players Rolando Zarate to Mexico and Sebastian Romero to Greece, but I told him I had nothing to do with those moves,'' Seijas told Asuncion radio station Primero De Marzo, adding that he would pass the matter on to police.
Chilavert told the radio station that Seijas had insulted him.
''Seijas owes me money for the transfers of Zarate and Romero,'' Chilavert said. ''He called me a starving Paraguayan and I cannot allow that.''
Seijas said he worked on a deal with Chilavert in 2006, involving the transfer of Paraguayan player Emilio Martinez to Mexican club UANL Tigres.
''I gave him $25,000 commission. After that, never again,'' Seijas said.
