Chelsea lodges appeal against transfer ban

Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon has confirmed that the Premier League club lodged an appeal against a ban from signing players until January 2011.

FIFA imposed the transfer ban in September after finding Chelsea guilty of illegally inducing French teenager Gael Kakuta to breach his contract with Lens in 2007.

Kenyon said Monday that he wasn't aware if the appeal would be heard before the transfer window reopens in January.

Kenyon said: "We've put the paperwork together. ... It went in on Friday."
