Chainrai could stay at Portsmouth

Chainrai is the fourth owner of the crisis-hit club in what has been a turbulent season for the South Coast outfit who were on Wednesday given permission by the Premier League to sell players outside of the transfer window. He became involved in the club last October when he loaned £17million to the Ali Al-Faraj regime before claiming to become operationally influential in January due to concerns about missed payments. Pompey have since gone into administration and are seeking a new buyer, but Andronikou has indicated that Chainrai is well placed to remain at Fratton Park after a reconstruction process at the club. "He definitely has the wherewithal and I do believe he has the club's interests at heart, Andronikou said in The Guardian of Chainrai. "He has given us full support throughout the whole process. At the moment he is the only one who ticks all the boxes." He added: Without sounding like his PR agent, they stepped in at the right time. "Without their involvement the club would have been in dire straights."
