Josh Thompson's double led Celtic to a 2-1 victory over Motherwell on Tuesday, delaying the Scottish Premier League title celebrations at Rangers.

Had Celtic lost, Rangers would have won a second straight title by winning at Dundee United on Wednesday.

Instead, Thompson's goals for Celtic after his mistake enabled Mark Reynolds to put the visitors in front, ensured that the title race remained unsettled.

While Celtic was 10 points behind Rangers, the Glasgow side strengthened its grip on second place by going eight points ahead of Dundee United.
