CAS sets deadline for Ribery ruling

Sport's highest court will aim to decide if Franck Ribery can play in the Champions League final at least four days before the match.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport said Monday it has received Bayern Munich's appeal against Ribery's three-match ban and should issue a ruling by May 18.

Bayern plays Inter Milan in the final on May 22 in Madrid.

Bayern is challenging UEFA's decision to ban Ribery for three matches for his red-card foul on Lyon's Lisandro Lopez in the semifinals first-leg match.

The German club wants CAS to overturn UEFA's sanction and impose the standard one-match suspension for a sending off which would make Ribery eligible for the final.
