Several Clarets players have been linked with moves away from Turf Moor since the club were relegated from the top flight - most notably Steven Fletcher, with Wolves reported to be interested in the Scottish striker. But Carlisle feels if manager Brian Laws can keep the group together, Burnley have enough at their disposal to be pushing for promotion from the Championship next season. "I think we have not got just a nucleus, we have got an excellent squad for the Championship and we should be challenging, even before any additions," Carlisle told the Lancashire Telegraph. "We have a squad with a massive amount of experience and some young players who will have gained a lot of experience from last season. "We have got a lot of depth and I think we have got a fantastic chance." Centre-back Carlisle recently signed a new two-year deal with Burnley and is determined to help the club bounce back after a poor finish to their maiden Premier League campaign. "The end of the season was a disappointment but that's gone already," Carlisle said. "We have got a Championship season to focus on and I am looking forward to making a challenge. "Financially, the club is in a fantastic position to make improvements around the stadium, the training ground and to the squad. "That is one of the benefits of last season. The chairman has been very frugal and so from a business point of view we are in a strong position. "From a squad point of view we are also in a very strong position so we have to amalgamate the two to make sure we get a winning formula."
