Capello says Upson will start against Slovenia

England coach Fabio Capello has reportedly said that Matthew Upson will start in central defense in the team's crucial last Group C match against Slovenia at the World Cup.

The BBC reports that the West Ham player will start in Port Elizabeth on Wednesday.

England has a vacancy at the back after Ledley King was injured in the first match and Jamie Carragher was suspended for picking up a yellow card in each of the team's two games.

Captain Rio Ferdinand did not make the tournament squad because of an injury.

England is tied with the United States with two points from two games. Slovenia leads Group C with four points and Algeria has one after holding England to a 0-0 draw.
