England coach Fabio Capello has picked Gareth Barry as captain for Tuesday's friendly against Ghana.

With Rio Ferdinand sidelined with injury, Steven Gerrard also out and John Terry rested after leading the team against Wales on Saturday, Barry will lead a side likely to show 11 changes.

Capello says the Manchester City midfielder is ''a good player, a good captain,'' adding that he is the most experienced squad member available for selection.

Barry previously led England for the second half of a friendly against Trinidad and Tobago in June 2008.
