Cairney never wanted Tigers exit

The highly-rated midfielder signed a new three-year deal with the Tigers last week - despite rumours linking him with a number of top Premier League sides. The 19-year-old broke into the first team earlier this season - earning praise for a number of eye-catching performances in the centre of the field. The teenager, though, insists he is happy at the Yorkshire club and admits he still has a lot to learn about the game. "I'm just so happy to sign a new deal here at Hull City and I hope to stay here for a very long time," Cairney told the club's official website. "There was never a doubt that I was going to stay here. There were reports and rumours in the media about things, but I was always going to stay. "Everything is sorted now and I can just carry on with my football. I know I can't afford to settle with what has happened this year. I need to produce more performances to help the team."
