Breda fight back to sink Willem II
On-loan Ajax midfielder Mitchell Donald put second-bottom Willem II ahead after 16 minutes but Edwin de Graaf restored parity a minute before the interval and substitute Matthew Amoah completed the turnaround 11 minutes after the break. The result saw NAC move up two places from seventh and firmly into contention for a Europa League berth, while Willem II remained only two points behind NEC Nijmegen in the last position of safety. It all started so well for the Tilburg outfit, Donald picking up Said Boutahar's cut-back and firing into the bottom-left corner to give his side the lead. They could have gone two up seven minutes later when Gerson Sheotahul met Donald's cross and volleyed goalwards but his effort was blocked. Home goalkeeper Maikel Aerts had to be alert to keep his side ahead 10 minutes before the break, pulling off a brilliant save from Donny Gorter's blast following a fine run. But Aerts was unable to prevent NAC getting back on terms moments before the interval. His poor goal-kick was seized upon by the visitors and De Graaf was left unmarked at the far post to slot into the net. Willem II could not keep up their dominance in the second period and struggled to produce anything of substance. They found themselves behind after 56 minutes when Amoah turned on the edge of the area and chipped in a shot which went in off the bar. The hosts, to their credit, did not give up and came close to equalising 15 minutes from time when Boutahar's left-footed free-kick appeared goal-bound, but Jelle Ten Rouwelaar pulled off a brilliant save to ensure NAC took all three points back to Breda.
