With the group stage of the Champions League finally underway, fans from teams across the globe have their hearts aflutter over the romantic notion that their club could take home the claret jug and be crowned the best team in Europe.
While that's adorable, it's also delusional. Football is a game of economic 'haves' and 'have-nots' and, the occasional 2004 Porto notwithstanding, the 'haves' win.
