A group of Brazilian reporters wore red clown noses to greet World Cup winning coach Luiz Felipe Scolari in a protest against the coach's recent rant against the media.

The reporters put on the noses as soon as the coach arrived with Palmeiras at the Arena Barueri for a Brazilian league match against Goias on Saturday night.

The journalists wanted an apology from the coach, who called reporters ''clowns'' after a 1-1 draw against Atletico Mineiro in the Copa Sudamericana on Wednesday.

Scolari, a former Brazil and Portugal coach, joked half-heartedly with the reporters when seeing them with the noses on Saturday but did not attend a scheduled press conference after the match won by Palmeiras 3-2.
