Corinthians drew 2-2 with Botafogo and Ceara defeated Atletico de Minas Gerais 1-0 to share first place in the Brazilian championship Sunday.
Both clubs have 17 points after seven matches.
Paulo Andre scored in second-half injury time to give Corinthians the draw. Bruno Cesar scored the other for Corinthians. Lucio Flavio and Renato Caja scored for Botafogo.
Ceara, playing in the first division for the first time in 16 years, continued to be the big surprise.
Third-place Fluminense defeated Avai 3-0 to improve to 15 points, while Santos and Guarani shared fourth place with 12 points.
Santos defeated Vasco da Gama 4-0 with two goals from Andre and strikes from Madson and Maranhao.
Guarani defeated Gremio Prudente 1-0.
