Bosingwa happy with transfers

The Blues lavished a British transfer record of £50million on Liverpool striker Fernando Torres and also brought in Brazilian defender David Luiz for around £25million. Liverpool also spent big, reinvesting the Torres fee in £35million striker Andy Carroll, having already added Luis Suarez to their squad for nearly £23million. Portuguese right-back Bosingwa was as shocked as most other observers when the figures started mounting up. Despite that, he is pleased to see new blood coming in to a Chelsea side that lost its way badly after a bright start to the season and now sit 10 points off top spot. "I was watching the end of the transfer window like everybody was," Bosingwa told the club's official website. "I was watching it on the internet in the hotel where we were staying and it was crazy, but good for us." Torres might have dominated the headlines, not least because his debut came against his former team-mates, just six days after deadline day. Liverpool won the match 1-0 but, as a fellow recruit from the Portuguese league, Bosingwa is more interested in fellow defender Luiz, who made his debut as a second-half substitute. "Every time I can watch, I do watch the games in Portugal so I have seen David Luiz play many times, and he is a good player," he said. "I think he will do well for Chelsea and he will bring something different to the team. It is a good transfer for us. He is a fast player, and he is a strong player as well." Bosingwa is back in the side after a year on the sidelines with knee problems and he is eager to help the team return to top form having watched them win the league and FA Cup double from the sidelines last season. "At the end of last season I was happy because the team won two trophies but I was sad because I didn't help my team, I didn't play. I didn't do my job and it was difficult because of this," he said. "Now I am doing what I love. Football is my life and I am happy now."
