Borussia Dortmund are confident that they can handle the loss of Robert Lewandowksi and will not 'fall into a hole'.
The Bundesliga outfit have grown accustomed to seeing key men head for the exits in summer transfer windows.
The likes of Nuri Sahin, Shinji Kagawa and Mario Goetze have departed in the recent past, but Dortmund have always responded positively.
They intend to do so again in 2014/15, despite being aware that they will have a sizeable striking void to fill.
Poland marksman Lewandowski - after four seasons with Dortmund which have delivered over 100 goals - is set to link up with rivals Bayern Munich as a free agent.
Chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke concedes that rebuilding work will be required over the coming months, but has no fears regarding the long-term success of the club.
He said: "There were predictions that we wouldn't be able to cope with the loss of Nuri Sahin to Real Madrid.
"The same was said when Shinji Kagawa went to Manchester United.
"We certainly won't be able to fully replace Robert, but we won't fall into a Lewandowski hole."
