Leicester have rejected an offer for defender Cian Bolger from Bristol Rovers, according to Pirates boss John Ward.

Bolger, yet to make a first-team appearance for the Foxes, joined the League Two club on loan for a third time in September.

Ward would like to keep the 20-year-old Irishman at the Memorial Stadium and told BBC Radio Bristol: "We've bid for Cian to bring him in but Leicester have turned it down."

Asked about the possibility of making another offer for Bolger, Ward added: "I'm not sure if we can go and improve on that bid at the moment as the cash flow is not as nice as we'd like it."

Republic of Ireland Under-19 international Bolger has been restricted to just four appearances this season because of injuries but has recently recovered and featured in Ward's first win as Rovers manager against Plymouth on New Year's Day.

Griffin initially signed for the League One club on a short-term contract to take him up to the start of 2013.

The 33-year-old will provide Saunders with vital experience during the second half of the season given his versatility.

"He's a good, experienced player who can play left or right-back," said the Rovers boss.

"He talks to the other players and gives them his opinion on how the game is going.

"He found himself without a club and he's signed for us for not a lot of money."

Griffin made 11 appearances for Doncaster in all competitions during the first half of the campaign.

The 19-year old was part of the Saints academy for six years before signing a professional deal in 2011.

He has since made two first-team appearances for Nigel Adkins' side and was part of the squad that beat Boro 4-1 in the Capital One Cup earlier this season.

Hoskins, who has also had loan spells with Preston and Rotherham, could make his Stevenage debut against Crewe on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Boro's Spanish striker Dani Lopez has extended his loan stint at Aldershot by a further month.
