Carlos Bocanegra has stated his desire to remain at Rangers despite enduring a turbulent first season at Ibrox.
The United States skipper arrived in Glasgow last summer from St Étienne with high hopes of winning silverware only to find himself plunged into one of the darkest periods in the club's history.
Rangers were forced to call in the administrators in February and first-team players agreed wage cuts of up to 75% until the end of the season in a bid to avoid widespread redundancies.
On the park, they were deducted 10 points by the Scottish Premier League - having already crashed out of both cups and Europe - before relinquishing the championship to rivals Celtic.
However, Bocanegra claims he is enjoying life in Scotland and does not want to quit cash-strapped Rangers in the summer.
The defender said: "We will finish the season and see what happens. Hopefully a new buyer comes in.
"I really like it here, I enjoy coming to work every day.
"It's unfortunate what's happened off the field but I want to be a part of this club.
"I'm the same as everybody else and we are hoping a new buyer comes in sooner rather than later.
"It's a tough situation and it's a waiting game. There is a lot unknown right now for everyone.
"Me, personally, what I'm thinking is that I'll wait until the end of the season and hopefully a new buyer will come in, then reassess later in the summer and see what happens.
"But I'd like to stay here because I like it. I'm happy here, I want to be a part of it."
Rather than be disappointed by his debut season at Rangers, the 32-year-old has been impressed by the magnitude of the club.
He added: "Actually, when I did come here, I didn't realise how big the club was.
"Since I've been here and experienced the games and just been a part of the Rangers brand and seen how big globally it is, it's really opened my eyes to how big this club is in Europe and how much support we have.
"The other side of things have been a little bit difficult but it's just an unfortunate situation."
However, Bocanegra - who will wear the captain's armband in the absence of the injured Steven Davis - has no idea whether his team-mates will be as keen to stick around beyond this term.
He said: "Everybody's going to have their own decisions.
"As a professional footballer, you only have a certain amount of time to play and a certain amount of time to earn money.
"I don't want to get into what other people are thinking."
