Striker Martin Palermo has signed a one-year contract with Boca Juniors that will see him through to the end of his career.

The 36-year-old trained on Wednesday with the club, which did not release details of the contract.

Palermo was a member of Argentina's squad at this summer's World Cup in South Africa, scoring a goal in the 2-0 victory over Greece in the group stage. He is the top scorer in Boca Juniors' history, hitting 222 goals.

Juan Roman Riquelme, the club's other leading player, has yet to sign a new contract with the Buenos Aires side.
