Boateng wanted Black Stars call-up

Pompey struggled in the 2-0 Boxing Day defeat at West Ham in the Premier League and are still waiting to see if Hassan Yebda, Nadir Belhadj, Kanu and Aruna Dindane need to travel to the African Nations Cup before Wednesday's game against Arsenal. At least Boateng will be available for them as the midfielder missed out on a call-up for Ghana after choosing them over Germany. Boateng, who could only play in the second half at Upton Park due to a virus, still has World Cup ambitions. He said: "I'm not unhappy that I'm not there. It would just be unbelievable to be playing there for Ghana but it looks now that I won't be going so I'm just happy to try to keep Portsmouth up. "Ghana is definitely my future, 100%. I want to play for the Black Stars. If I keep going and play well for Portsmouth and we stay up, I think there's a big chance for me to go to the World Cup."
