New Paris Saint-Germain coach Laurent Blanc has admitted Edinson Cavani is "a player he loves" as pursuit of the Napoli forward continues.

Both PSG and Chelsea have been heavily linked with the Uruguay international, with reports on Tuesday night claiming the French champions had tabled a bid.

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis then insisted Cavani will not leave the Serie A club for less than 63 million euros (£54million).

Now Blanc has professed his admiration for the player and his desire to bring Cavani to the French capital.

Speaking at a press conference, Blanc told reporters: "I would be very happy.

"He is a player that I love, like a lot of people.

"I saw him play several times with Naples and Uruguay, and should he be part of the Parisian team, I would be very happy."

The former Bordeaux boss also revealed he was looking at bringing Lille left-back Lucas Digne and former Barcelona defender Eric Abidal to PSG to provide competition for Maxwell, while midfielder Yohan Cabaye is another he is running the rule over.

He said: "Like all football clubs, there will be departures and arrivals, this is normal at this time.

"We still have technical discussions about the profile of players who can strengthen us."
