Athletic Bilbao has given coach Marcelo Bielsa a one-year contract extension that keeps him at the Spanish league team until the end of next season.
The Argentine coach led Bilbao to its first European final since 1977 and the Copa del Rey final in the past season. However, the Basque club lost both finals 3-0 - defeated by Atletico Madrid in the Europa League and Barcelona in the domestic cup.
Bilbao beat Manchester United on its way to the Europa League final but finished 10th in the league.
Bielsa previously coached Argentina and Chile, and also Argentine club Newell's Old Boys and Spanish team Espanyol.
