Benfica won its first Portuguese league title in five years with a 2-1 home victory over 10-man Rio Ave on the last day of the season.

Oscar Cardozo scored in each half Sunday to become the league's top scorer with 26 goals and put Benfica on 76 points, five clear of second-place FC Braga.

Benfica lost only two league games all season and has been top since December.

Braga drew 1-1 at Nacional to snare a berth in the qualifying phase of the Champions League.

FC Porto, champion for the past four seasons, finished third on 68 points after a 4-1 victory at Leiria. Sporting Lisbon ended fourth, 20 points behind Porto, by beating relegated Leixoes 2-1.
