Benfica says police have asked to see documents relating to the transfer of goalkeeper Julio Cesar from Lisbon rival Belenenses.

Benfica said in a statement Thursday the club is not the target of the investigation into the Brazilian's 2009 move.

The statement said inspectors went to the Stadium of Light on Wednesday and asked to see financial documents relating to the deal.

Benfica said it was co-operating with police and denied media reports that other player transfers are also under police investigation.
