Benfica beats Revolution 4-0 in friendly

Filipe Menezes, Sidnei and Cesar Peixoto scored in the first half and Benfica defeated the New England Revolution 4-0 in an international friendly at Gillette Stadium on Wednesday night.
Menezes opened the scoring in the 15th minute after slicing through the Revolution and unleashing a low shot from just outside the box that beat diving goalkeeper Preston Burpo.
Sidnei doubled the advantage two minutes later, heading in a cross from Cesar Peixoto. Peixoto scored in the 32nd minute.
Brazilian forward Alan Kardec finished up the scoring in the 54th minute with a free kick from about 35 yards out.

New England had trialists Ivan Gcozdenovic from Serbia and Jean-Baptiste Fritzon of Haiti in its lineup.
