Bednar to fight for Baggies shirt

The Baggies have been linked already with a move for Liverpool's David N'Gog and Hamburg's Marcus Berg. But former Hearts player Bednar is ready for the challenge and to try and convince Di Matteo he should be part of his plans. Bednar said: "I view Albion being linked with new players positively as usual. If I don't play, I will try my best to get into the starting XI. "Whoever comes in will be good for the club and we will see how it goes at the time and the gaffer is always fair to everyone. "If he feels someone is on fire, he will give him a chance and so the onus is on every one of us to work and do well - and he will play us." Bednar is doubly determined to make an impact after the support he received from Albion 12 months ago. He was suspended by the Football Association for three months after admitting two charges of possession and use of recreational drugs. Bednar said: "I want to do the best for the club because of what they did for me and I will be grateful for the rest of my life. "But now I just want to play for West Brom and do well."
