American midfielder DaMarcus Beasley could be ready for the Rangers' match against Glasgow rival Celtic on Sunday despite a thigh injury.

Manager Walter Smith had thought Beasley would be out for up to three weeks after injuring the leg in training. It ruled him out of Rangers' 4-1 win over Hibernian in the Scottish Premier League on Sunday.

But Beasley wrote on Twitter on Monday that "the injury is not as bad as we thought."

He said "with rest and extra treatment (I) hope to be back by the end of the week! Fingers crossed!"
