Franck Ribery's injury nightmare is set to continue after Bayern Munich confirmed his ankle has been "immobilised" in a bid to cure the problem.
The winger has been absent since March 11 but hoped to return to action by July 1 after receiving non-surgical therapy on the area, but that treatment has failed to work.
As a result the injured area is likely to be contained within a protective boot or plaster to avoid any further damage and accelerate the healing process.
A statement released by Bayern said: "Conservative therapy has not delivered the desired result. Therefore an immobilization of the right ankle was carried out."
The club's sporting director Matthias Sammer added: "We support Franck in this healing process and hope that he can return to the court soon."
On Wednesday, Ribery revealed his dismay at his injury problems over the past 12 months after he also missed last summer's World Cup with a back problem.
The Bavarians haven't put a specific time frame on his length of recovery but the 32-year-old is now expected to be out for several more weeks.
