Bayern Munich striker Olic out for six months

Bayern Munich striker Ivica Olic needs knee surgery and will be sidelined for about six months, the club said Monday.
Olic is scheduled to fly this week to the United States to have the operation to repair cartilage damage at Dr. Richard Steadman's clinic in Vail, Colorado.
The 31-year-old Croat is the latest injury victim in the ranks of the German champions, who already have been left without Arjen Robben, Franck Ribery and Miroslav Klose, among others.
Olic had been carrying the injury since before the season, said Bayern.
Olic scored 19 goals in 41 matches for Bayern last season. He has been hindered by other injuries as well this season, including a broken nose.
"I'd been hoping to continue where I left off," Olic said in a statement read by Bayern spokesman Markus Hoerwick. "But the season has not been going the way I wanted."
