Bayern Munich is sending midfielder Mehmet Ekici on a one-year loan to Bundesliga rival Nuremberg.
The German champion announced the deal on Friday. The 20-year-old Ekici was given a professional contract last winter that runs to June 2012.
Ekici played for Bayern's second team last season. He scored 12 goals in Germany's third division, and the loan deal will give him a chance to establish himself in the Bundesliga.
Nuremberg is strengthening its squad after narrowly avoiding relegation from the top division. It finished third from bottom and salvaged its topflight status in a playoff against second-division Augsburg.
