Bayern defender Holger Badstuber to miss 5 months

Bayern Munich and Germany defender Holger Badstuber has been ruled out for five months after tearing a cruciate ligament in his right knee.
The Bundesliga club says Badstuber will undergo an operation Monday after team doctor Hans-Wilhelm Mueller-Wohlfahrt confirmed the severity of the injury Sunday.
Badstuber slipped awkwardly into teammate Javi Martinez as they were trying to reach Mario Goetze in the first half of Bayern's 1-1 draw with Borussia Dortmund on Saturday.
Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge told the club website, ''he said his studs got stuck in the turf and he felt it go immediately.''
The 23-year-old Badstuber had returned from a torn thigh muscle only 11 days beforehand.
Bayern coach Jupp Heynckes says ''he was just getting back up to speed. It's very bitter for the lad.''
