Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge will personally lead the club's appeal to reduce Franck Ribery's suspension and allow the midfielder to be eligible for the Champions League final against Inter Milan.

Rummenigge said he will travel to the UEFA headquarters in Switzerland to attend Wednesday's hearing.

Bayern maintains that Ribery's foul on Lyon's Lisandro that led to the France international's sending off was not malicious.

UEFA suspended Ribery for three games.

"We are going to fight. We owe it to ourselves and to Franck," Rummenigge said Sunday. "The main thing is to convince UEFA that it was not assault but a non-malicious foul.

"If we succeed, maybe there is a small chance that Franck can play in the final."

The final will be played on May 22 in Madrid.
