Barton has been an ever-present for Newcastle in the Premier League this season and he has a revelation in his wide role in recent weeks. The former Manchester City man has established himself as a key member of Chris Hughton's starting XI and he is happy with his form and fitness after a number of injury problems over the last few seasons. "It is good to be fit and playing - dare I say it - well. It is all positive," Barton told the Daily Mirror. "You get a little bit stronger, a little bit more battle hardened with every 90 minutes you get under your belt, so I am happy because I love playing football. "It is important to me to be a successful member of this squad and our playing staff and when you are fit there's a good chance of that happening." Confidence Barton is refusing to get carried away by Newcastle's thumping Tyne-Wear win over Sunderland last weekend admitting they must build on the victory as they prepare to face Arsenal this weekend. "These sorts of results don't do our confidence any harm, that's for sure," added Barton. "But it is important we build on it. Let's not get too far ahead of ourselves. We've been very good on the road, with some good results and they could have been better but for being harshly treated at Manchester City - but have also got to build on this home win. "We have to use the momentum to carry us forward."
