Barcelona forward Pedro Rodriguez has agreed to a one-year contract extension that ties the Spain international to the club until 2016.

The Catalan club says Pedro's buy-out clause is raised from ?90 million ($130 million) to ?150 million ($217 million). The Spanish champions indicated the extension would be signed on Thursday.

Pedro has been a regular in Barcelona's team since coach Pep Guardiola brought the 23-year-old up from the reserves to start the 2009-10 season. He has scored 45 goals in two years and is the first player to have scored in six different competitions in one season.

Pedro was also a member of Spain's World Cup-winning team.
