BARCELONA, Spain (AP) -- Barcelona says coach Luis Enrique has undergone emergency surgery for acute appendicitis.
The Spanish club says Enrique's surgery went ''satisfactorily and it is estimated that he will be released from hospital in the coming days.''
The 44-year-old Enrique signed a two-year contract in May to become Barcelona's new manager, replacing Argentine Gerardo Martino.

He played for Barcelona from 1996-2004 and coached its B team from 2008-11.
The club also says the team will begin practice for next season on July 14.
