Barcelona vice-president Javier Faus claims the Primera Liga giants are ready to make "big investments" this summer.

Marquee arrivals are expected on an annual basis at the Nou Camp, with Neymar the latest big-name signing.

Controversy has shrouded his acquisition, though, with Barca caught up in a financial scandal regarding their payment for the Brazilian superstar.

They are, however, ready to dip back into the market when the window re-opens.

Barca will have defensive holes to plug in 2014/15, with club stalwarts Victor Valdes and Carles Puyol set to become free agents at the end of the current campaign.

An agreement has already been reached for Borussia Monchengladbach goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen, but cover will be required for departing skipper Puyol at centre-half.

Faus told El Mundo Deportivo on the club's transfer plans: "We will be making some big investments in the transfer market this summer.

"Our financial situation will not be an obstacle.

"We are ready, just like we will be ready in the future. The club's main priority will always be to maintain sporting excellence."

Speculation suggests that Chelsea defender David Luiz has been identified as a top target, with the Brazil international yet to convince Blues boss Jose Mourinho that he is deserving of a regular role at Stamford Bridge.
