Ballack fined for insulting rival fans

The German football federation has fined Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Michael Ballack for taking part in a chant insulting fans of FC Cologne after a recent Bundesliga match.
Ballack is still officially Germany captain although he has not played for the national team in a year because of injury.
Ballack had climbed a pitchside fence in front of his home fans after a game against Schalke on March 20 and sang a verse of a song insulting the fans of Bundesliga rivals Cologne.
Ballack later apologized.

He was fined ?8,000 ($11,365).
