Bale: Spurs can scare Rossoneri

Bale played no part in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League last-16 tie at the San Siro last month but Spurs still turned in an exceptional performance to win 1-0. They will be confident of protecting that lead in the return match at White Hart Lane on Wednesday, especially as Bale is in contention to feature after recovering from a back problem. The Welshman, who will be assessed before kick-off after feeling stiffness in his legs over the past couple of days, is confident Tottenham can finish the job and move through to the quarter-finals. But he still has a lot of respect for the quality within Milan's ranks, even if key midfielder Gennaro Gattuso will be absent due to suspension. "I watched the game on TV at home and we played well," the winger told La Gazzetta dello Sport. "I don't know if it will be better playing a Milan team without Gattuso. However we will have fewer shouting matches! "We came up against one of the top teams in Serie A, who are really tough. Like Inter Milan. "But this time we did not go down to 10 men and we showed what Tottenham are capable of doing. "They have a string of big names capable of winning matches on their own. I am thinking of Ibrahimovic, of Robinho. "But I believe Milan will be thinking of what can happen to them here. "They will be a lot more worried about us. And this should even things up on the pitch. If we play to our best, we can give anyone a game." Bale twice terrorised Milan's local rivals Inter during the group phase of the competition, scoring a stunning hat-trick in a 4-3 defeat at the Giuseppe Meazza before inspiring Spurs to victory in London. He rates the home performance slightly higher, saying: "Three goals and the match-ball, but the return was even better at White Hart Lane, even if I didn't score. "It was special to be able to measure myself against the champions of Europe. "My life, however, is still the same. After Inter, we immediately thought about the next games, nobody became big-headed. "To really enjoy that match, I will wait until the summer when I am relaxed." Milan will hope to be more successful in keeping Bale at bay and manager Massimiliano Allegri says lessons have been learned from watching how Inter struggled. "We will find a way to stop him," said Allegri. "We have studied the problem a lot."
