Mikel Arteta could be facing several weeks on the sidelines after picking up a hamstring injury in Wednesday's 1-1 draw with Birmingham.

Arteta had to be substituted within the first 10 minutes of the Premier League match at Goodison Park having sustained an apparent hamstring problem while in a chase with Sebastian Larsson.

The Spanish midfielder has been in impressive form of late and was named captain for the game in the absence of another hamstring victim Phil Neville, but soon had to pass the armband over to Phil Jagielka.

When asked about Arteta, Toffees boss David Moyes - who also has Marouane Fellaini and Tim Cahill in the treatment room - told Everton's website: "It looks like a hamstring injury.
