Argentine League Roundup, Mar. 28

Independiente increased its lead at the top of the Argentine
Clausura standings with a 1-1 draw at Colon de Santa Fe on Sunday,
while Boca Juniors suffered a humiliating 4-1 loss to lowly
Chacarita Juniors.
Velez Sarsfield beat Atletico Tucuman 1-0 and Arsenal de
Sarandi had a 1-0 win over San Lorenzo in the day's other matches.
Leonel Nunez scored the opener for Independiente in the 10th
minute, before Esteben Fuertes equalized for home side Colon in the
20th.
Independiente finished with nine men after losing Leonel
Galeano and Dario Gandin to red cards in the 34th and 73rd minutes
respectively, while Colon had Marcelo Goux sent off a minute after
half time.
The result put Independiente three points clear of Godoy Cruz
after 11 matches played, with Estudiantes a further point back in
third.
Fresh from victory against River Plate on Thursday, Boca
Juniors took the lead away at Chacarita when Matias Gimenez broke
into the box to score in the 30th minute.
That was the end of the good news for Boca, however, as
Facundo Parra dived feet first to prod the equalizer from a
left-wing cross in the 48th.
Barely 10 minutes later, indecision by Boca goalkeeper Javier
Garcia led to a penalty for Chacarita and a red card for Boca's
Ezequiel Munoz, who was sent off by mistake instead of Julio
Barroso by referee Saul Laverni.
Garcia saved the 57th minute penalty but Nicolas Ramirez
followed up to give Chacarita a 2-1 lead.
Parra scored his second goal in the 82nd minute and Sebastian
Sciorilli chipped in from the edge of the box to seal the win in
style in the 88th.
Despite being one of Argentina's best known clubs, Boca has
conceded more goals than any other team in the Clausura tournament
so far and languishes third from bottom of the standings.
Marco Torsiglieri scored the winning goal as Velez Sarsfield
moved to fourth place on the table with a home win over
relegation-threatened Atletico Tucuman.
Defeat put Tucuman further behind Chacarita Juniors at the
bottom of the competition on points differentials.
Nicolas Aguirre scored in the 18th minute to push Arsenal
into the top half with its win over struggling San Lorenzo, which
stayed in 17th.
River Plate hosts Argentinos Juniors on Monday in the last
match of the round.
In other results Friday and Saturday, it was: Estudiantes 2,
Godoy Cruz 1; Rosario Central 0, Huracan 2; Racing Club 1, Newell's
Old Boys 0; Tigre 0, Lanus 1; Banfield 3, Gimnasia La Plata 2.
