Argentine League Roundup, Feb. 14

Velez Sarsfield held on for a scoreless draw at home against San
Lorenzo to retain the lead of the Argentine Clausura in the fourth
Round on Sunday.
Boca Juniors also played out a 0-0 draw against bottom club
Atletico Tucuman. Christian Chavez hit the crossbar for Boca in the
84th minute, but Atletico Tucuman held on for a point to aid its
fight against relegation.
Also Sunday, Independiente had a 3-2 win at home against
Estudiantes. River Plate travels to Colon de Santa Fe later Sunday.
Nestor Silvera gave Independiente the lead against
Estudiantes, applying the finish to Federico Mancuello's pass in
the 44th minute. Dario Gandin gave the home side a two-goal lead
with a left-footed strike in the 57th.
Estudiantes hit back with goals from Maximiliano Nunez in the
59th and Jeronimo Neumann in the 72nd, but Independiente took all
three points when Ignacio Piatti negotiated the ball past two
defenders in the box to score the winner in the 79th.
The results so far mean Velez Sarsfield remains ahead of
Independiente and Godoy Cruz in the standings on goal difference.
In other results Friday and Saturday it was: Rosario Central
1, Chacarita Juniors 1; Arsenal de Sarandi 0, Tigre 2; Banfield 2,
Lanus 0; Huracan 0, Godoy Cruz 0; and Gimnasia La Plata 1; Racing
Club 0.
The round finishes Monday with Argentinos Juniors hosting
Newell's Old Boys in a mid-table match.
