Ezequiel Maggiolo and Carlos Luna scored twice apiece as Tigre thrashed Union Santa Fe 4-0 to put the pressure on Clausura leaders Boca Juniors.

Maggiolo opened the scoring after 17 minutes, then Luna netted just before the half-hour and on the stroke of half-time as the game was effectively killed off in the first period.

Maggiolo bagged his second seven minutes after the restart as Tigre pulled
level on points at the summit with Boca, who face Atletico Rafaela on Sunday.

Arsenal Sarandi went fourth, two points off the leaders, with a 3-1 win over
Independiente.

The hosts led 3-0 by half-time thanks to strikes from Guillermo Burdisso and Emilio Zelaya, which sandwiched a Gabriel Milito own goal.

Facundo Parra pulled one back after 69 minutes but any hopes of a comeback were killed off with the dismissal of Julian Velazquez three minutes later.

The win allowed Arsenal to overtake Velez Sarsfield, who slipped to a 2-0
defeat at home against Argentinos Juniors.

Santiago Naguel in the 52nd minute and Pablo Hernandez from the spot seven minutes from time got the goals.

Jose Maria Basanta sent Monterrey into the semi-finals of the Clausura
play-offs as a 2-2 draw in a bad-tempered match gave them a 4-3 aggregate win over Tijuana.

Things were looking bad for Monterrey, who finished second in the table, when they conceded to Egidio Arevalo Rios after nine minutes, then had Angel Reyna sent off just after the half-hour.

But Cesar Delgado levelled on the stroke of half-time and the numbers were
evened up with Miguel Almazan's dismissal five minutes after the restart.

Rios scored again from the spot in the 61st minute to level the tie, but
Basanta netted four minutes later and the match was effectively over when
Tijuana were reduced to nine men as half-time substitute Armando Pulido saw red in the 72nd minute.

In the day's other game, Pachuca won 1-0 at Club America but it was not enough to overturn the first-half deficit.

Nestor Vidirio scored the only goal after 37 minutes but America held on for a 3-2 aggregate win.
