Turkey international Hamit Altintop has signed a new one-year contract with Bayern Munich, ending speculation about his future.

Altintop had hinted that he may look for a new club this summer after failing to hold down a regular starting berth in their side during the season just ended.

However, the Bavarian club today confirmed that he had put pen to paper on a new deal, tying him down to the club for the next 12 months.

The 27-year-old has made a total of 49 appearances since moving to Bayern from Schalke in 2007 and he starred in their Champions League semi-final against Lyon, playing also in the final against Inter Milan earlier this month.

He has scored five goals for the club, including two in his first three appearances in the 2007/08 season during which he helped Bayern to a Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal double, an achievement he celebrated again this year.
