Birmingham midfielder Papa Bouba Diop has had his contract extended by the club for a further month.

The 34-year-old, who joined Blues in October this year, will remain at St Andrew's until December 17.

The former Senegal international has yet to make his debut but will be hoping to be part of the rotation during a busy festive fixture schedule.

Manager Lee Clark has previously praised Diop's contribution off the field and his old team-mate is ready if called upon having been an unused substitute in their last six matches.

Davis suggested any business before Thursday is unlikely but he's ready to move in January if he feels it will improve his side.

But he was quick to point out that the wait gives some of his current squad a chance to prove their worth.

"We have to get what we can out of the players we have got, move them around and try to find the winning combination. I've got to stick with them," he told the club's official website.

"Of course, they have until January to prove that they can do it on a consistent basis. They have shown that they can in glimpses and done well in some games and then had blanks in others.

"They have a bit of breathing space to prove they can become more clinical and when I mean that I mean the front six."
