PSV have so far lit up the league as they look to put the pain of not qualifying for the Champions League well and truly behind them, but Ajax, who trail the leaders by only five points, are not out of the title race just yet. While PSV fans may be pining for a return of Champions League football, they have received a major boost with the news that the club will be making moves in the summer for former heroes Ruud van Nistelrooy and Mark van Bommel. Sporting director Marcel Brands said: "We haven't been in touch with Van Nistelrooy yet, but that will happen in the near future. "The fans don't have to worry about anything. We will do our utmost to sign Van Bommel and Van Nistelrooy. They're both extraordinary players who love PSV." Reigning champions FC Twente will be hoping for an Ajax win which would allow them to overtake PSV at the top of the table with a victory at AZ Alkmaar. Michel Preud'homme's side have won six of their last nine games and the manager believes his players have the right attitude to successfully defend their title. "Since the start of the season we have only played important games," Preud'homme said. "Whether in the Champions League, cup or big league matches, the players have been well prepared and I see no change in their behaviour." Elsewhere on Sunday, relegation threatened Feyenoord host Champions League hopefuls FC Groningen with the match proving significant for the teams at both ends of the table. Groningen will be looking to get over last weekend's shock 4-1 defeat to Roda JC, while Feyenoord are aiming to build on their 2-2 draw with high-flying ADO Den Haag as they bid to move away from the drop zone. The Eredivisie actions kicks off on Friday night with a game between relegation candidates VVV-Venlo and Excelsior. A win for Excelsior would move them level on points with Feyenoord, but the Rotterdam club currently have a better goal difference which would likely keep them out of the drop zone. The action continues on Saturday with bottom side Willem II hosting Heerenveen in the early kick-off . The following games see Heracles host Vitesse Arnhem, Roda take on De Graafschap and fifth place ADO Den Haag travel to NAC Breda. NEC Nijmegen's home fixture against FC Utrecht completes the weekend's action.
