The Asian Football Confederation has extended former president Mohamed bin Hammam's suspension by a further 20 days while it investigates allegations of corruption.
Former FBI director Louis Freeh has been brought in by the AFC to assist investigations that bin Hammam enriched himself and his family, and rewarded supporters with tens of thousands of dollars in cash, among other charges. The allegations were uncovered in an internal audit that resulted in the AFC giving bin Hammam a 30-day provisional ban last month.
The AFC in a statement Sunday said AFC Disciplinary Committee chairman Lim Kia Tong has extended the provisional suspension by 20 days.
Bin Hammam had a lifetime ban overturned in court in July following allegations he bribed Caribbean voters when he challenged Sepp Blatter for the FIFA presidency.
