Dick Advocaat says he is finalizing a deal to become the coach of Russia's national soccer team.
Advocaat was speaking a day after unexpectedly quitting as Belgium coach less than five months before the start of its 2012 European Championship qualifying campaign.
The Dutchman said Friday that ``I will become Russia's coach like Guus Hiddink before me, but I have not signed yet.''
Hiddink guided Russia to the semifinals of Euro 2008 but failed to qualify for this year's World Cup. He begins coaching Turkey in August.

Advocaat took the Netherlands to the 1994 World Cup quarterfinals and the Euro 2004 semis. He coached Zenit St. Petersburg to a Russian league title and the UEFA Cup during a three-year stint before being fired last year.
