The Joint Administrators for Port Vale have met with a further party interested in making a bid for the club.

It means there are now seven bidders who have expressed an interest, and the administrators are "working hard to secure an acceptable offer."

Commenting on the ongoing search for a buyer, Bob Young of Begbies Traynor said in a joint statement released along with the Port Vale Supporters' Club: "There is continuing serious interest from a number of parties and the emergence of a new, seventh bidder - who spent five hours at the club last week - can only be positive.

"I fully understand that the fans are eager to learn the identities of the parties involved but it is not appropriate to disclose them at this stage of the proceedings. Our team is working hard to secure an acceptable offer but I do not consider that it is in the best interests of the club to say anything further at this stage.

"I am very aware that this situation hasn't changed since our last update and I would ask the fans to bear with us whilst the delicate and often complex negotiations continue."

Traynor continued: "We are now a month into the new season and the results on the park have been tremendous. Micky Adams's team is playing a brand of exciting and attractive football which has placed them second in the league and made them the leading goalscorers in the country. This can only help to make the club a more attractive proposition for potential purchasers."
