Captain Travis Dodd scored in the 70th minute to give Adelaide United a 1-0 win over the Wellington Phoenix on Friday in the first round of Australia's A-League finals series.
The win earned United a second-round match against the winner of Sunday's elimination final between Gold Coast United and the Melbourne Victory.
First-place Brisbane Roar and Central Coast play the first match of their two-leg major semifinal on Saturday. The winner of the series advances direct to the league's grand final on March 12.
